Welcome to the NZ Johne's Information Centre

Johne’s disease is an incurable bacterial disease, and in cattle, sheep and deer the main signs are weight loss and scouring leading to death.  It can also cause significant production losses on affected farms. Productive New Zealand based research is being carried out and the recommendations resulting from it are actively being incorporated on farms, and there is good reason to believe that the disease can be managed and controlled.

The cattle, sheep and deer industries of New Zealand have made a commitment to work together to tackle the Johne’s disease problem, by promoting recognition of the disease, and by making a concerted effort to deal with it at a national level.

This web-site will help you understand Johne’s disease, and it will help you access the many resources available to help you manage and control it effectively on your farm.
